Meet our 2023-2024 Board
Elizabeth - President
Elizabeth Houser is the Director of Cyber Defense for DefenseStorm, leading a team of cybersecurity experts protecting financial institutions from cybercriminals. Prior to joining DefenseStorm, Elizabeth was selected for an internship at King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) Major Crimes Unit while completing her degree in Information Security and Digital Forensics. Elizabeth was awarded the KCSO Volunteer of the Year for her service and graduated from Edmonds College shortly before her husband passed away from a service-connected condition. Elizabeth joined the Gold Star Wives of America, Inc. in 2017, and was elected to a board position in 2018. Currently she serves as president on the CIS Advisory Committee for Edmonds College. In addition to multiple industry certifications, Elizabeth holds a MLIS degree from the University of Washington and an MS inEntomology from the University of Tennessee.

Heather J. - Vice President
Heather is originally from Upstate, NY. She met her husband, Bryan, in Virginia Beach. Together they have two wonderful boys. Heather works for an Marketing company specializing in the Mortgage industry. Heather and her family enjoy spending time outdoors, ready, and finding ways to give back. Heather is excited to help plan some events this year!

Ariana grew up in Texas and graduated from UT Austin in 2019 with a degree in Public Health and Bioinformatics. She worked
in various administrative positions at UT before marrying her husband, Jack, in 2021 in Pensacola, FL. She now loves exploring
the Pacific Northwest, getting to know her new Growler community, and learning from her more experienced Navy wives.
Ariana looks forward to starting a family soon and serving on the OSCWI board this upcoming year!

Kamryn J. - Communications
Kamryn grew up in a Navy family, spending her childhood in multiple duty stations across the US. In 2022, she
graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BFA in Emerging Media, where she specialized in
Animation and Graphic Design. After following her family to their new duty station, she met her boyfriend
Liam here at NAS Whidbey Island in 2023. Now, as a Navy girlfriend, she’s diving headfirst into the Spouse
groups and organizations she grew up around, doing her part to make them a key resource for her fellow
military families.

Will coordinate community involvement projects for the members of the OSCWI. They will organize volunteer and/or goods drives and act as liaison between the OSCWI and various community organizations such as food pantries, local schools, and community event organizers.
Coordinates with Membership Chair and Communications Chair to ensure all applicable volunteer opportunities are presented to membership.
Coordinates with the Membership Chair to attend all base related community events to represent the OSCWI.
Builds relationships with the base related welfare agencies, as well as local non-profit organizations, to identify volunteer or charitable goods opportunities for OSCWI membership.
Promotes the OSCWI to civic leaders and community organizations.

Mala S. - Events Coordinator
Mala was born in St. Thomas USVI and grew up in Northern Virginia. She earned a degree in economics, is a professional organizer and Education Service Representative for Usborne Books and More. Mala met her husband in 2009 in South Florida and he currently serves in the growler community. They now live in the Pacific Northwest and are the parents of a wonderful son named Asher. Mala enjoys cooking, gardening, traveling and entertaining. She looks forward to using her skills and experience in serving on the 2022-2023 board for the OSCWI.
